New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS) The Delhi government spent over Rs.3,000 crore but has failed to provide basic facilities like roads, sewer and water lines in the city’s unauthorised colonies, the CAG said.

“The urban development department, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, has failed to provide basic services like sewer lines, water lines, roads and drainage to all the 895 unauthorised colonies despite incurring an expenditure of Rs.3,029.21 crore up to March 2013,” said a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, tabled in parliament Friday.
Under the chief ministership of Congress leader Sheila Dikshit, the Delhi government in 2012 regularised 895 unauthorised colonies in the capital.
In September 2012, the government issued an order finding 895 such settlements as “eligible for regularisation”.
