New Delhi, Dec 26 (Inditop.com) Andhra Pradesh Governor N.D. Tiwari Saturday resigned, citing health grounds, after allegations of his involvement in a sex scandal.
“Yes, he sent in his resignation to President Pratibha Patil,” Christy Fernandez, the President’s secretary, told Inditop.
Tiwari’s resignation comes a day after the Telugu television channel ABN showed pictures of an elderly man purported to be Tiwari, 86, with three young women in bed in the Raj Bhavan.
Tiwari’s continuance as governor had become untenable after the scandal and pressure mounted on the octogenarian leader to quit on moral grounds.
Earlier in the day, the central government had asked for a report from the state government on the alleged incident.
