Panaji, Dec 29 (IANS) The general elections are more than a year away, but the Nationalist Congress party (NCP) has started lobbying for one of the two Lok Sabha seats up for grabs in Goa.
Party chief Sharad Pawar met the party brass on the outskirts of Panaji Saturday where a senior official said he assured party colleagues that the NCP would contest the North Goa seat again.
NCP president Surendra Sirsat said Pawar was also insisted on fielding a party member from the seat in the 2014 elections instead of borrowing a candidate from the Congress.
The NCP had three legislators in the last Goa assembly and was a coalition partner in the Congress-led coalition government. It was wiped out in the March 2012 assembly polls.
