New Delhi, Nov 30 (Inditop.com) Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily Monday denied there was any delay in arresting former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda on corruption charges and said it is up to the investigating agency to decide on the time of arrest.
“The investigative agencies decide when and how is one to be arrested,” Moily said.
“I don’t think anybody will interfere. Truth should come out,” he added.
Koda, who is in the centre of a Rs.2,500-crore money laundering scam, was arrested Monday in Chaibasa, about 200 km from Jharkhand capital Ranchi.
Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Congress had supported the Koda government in 2006-2008 and demanded “proper follow up and honest investigation”.
Another BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the Congress was in a fix regarding Koda’s arrest.
“At last, sense has prevailed in the Congress to see that this man is arrested. The case is a black spot on the entire political fraternity,” he said.
Reacting to Koda’s arrest, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Prem Chand Gupta said his party wanted the law to take its course.
