Kolkata, Feb 4 (IANS) Singer-turned-Trinamool Congress MP Kabir Suman Saturday complained that the developmental work in his Lok Sabha constituency was suffering with his MP Local Area Development funds being blocked.
“I am not getting my MPLAD funds for last few months. The developmental work has been on hold for this reason. I don’t know why I am not receiving the funds. I have utiliSed all the funds that I used to receive earlier,” Suman told media persons here.
Asked whether he has informed his party about the incident, Suman said: “I don’t have any relation with this party. Everybody ignores me and I also ignore them. I was admitted to a government hospital a few days back, but nobody from party or the government enquired about my health.”
Suman is having a strained relationship with the Trinamool leadership after he raised his voice against alleged corruption among a section of party leaders and openly condemned the joint forces operation in the Maoist-hit districts of the state.
Asked whether he would inform Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee about his problems, Suman said: “I don’t think she is deaf or dumb. I want to leave this post of MP. Why is Mamata not throwing me out, I don’t understand.”
Of late, the balladeer has attacked the state government on issues like farmers’ suicides, deaths caused in police firing, and has penned a song eulogising slain Maoist leader Koteshwar Rao alias Kishanjee.
