New Delhi, Jan 17 (Inditop.com) Describing former West Bengal chief minister as “one of the worthiest sons” of the country, the Congress said Sunday that he served the people with simplicity in his long political career.
Congress spokesman Shakeel Ahmed said that Basu’s demise was not only a loss to West Bengal and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) but also to the entire country.
“Without doubt, he was one of the worthiest sons of India. He lived his life with simplicity and stood for uprightness in public life,” Ahmed told Inditop.
He said the veteran Marxist, who died earlier Sunday, will be remembered for a very long time.
Congress leader Jayanti Natarajan said that Basu was “a practical man and full of ideas. He had tremendous qualities for any leader”.
