Chennai, June 30 (IANS) Former Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi Thursday said his DMK party is clear in its view that the prime minister has to be brought under the purview of the proposed ant-graft Lokpal bill.

Recalling that the anti-corruption law enacted by his government in 1970s brought within its ambit the chief minister, Karunanidhi said the party is clear in its stand.

He said the main purpose of enacting that law was to provide enough powers to register cases against the chief minister and others.

He said the alliance parties of the ruling AIADMK want the prime minister to be included under Lokpal bill while Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has opposed such a move.

Karunanidhi said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself has said that he was not against any such move.
