Dibrugarh (Assam), April 7 (Inditop) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s election rally here was cancelled Tuesday due to a hailstorm but he was briefed on the security situation in the state that was a day earlier rocked by a series of explosions.

“The prime minister arrived as scheduled but due to very bad weather conditions the meeting had to be cancelled. He left for New Delhi after about three hours of stay at the Dibrugarh airport,” Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi told Inditop.

“The prime minister took a briefing of the security situation and said the centre would extend all help to prevent recurrence of such violence,” he added.

Ten people were killed and 60 wounded in six attacks – three explosions and as many grenade attacks – in different parts of the state Monday.
