New Delhi, Dec 16 (Inditop.com) The Election Commission Wednesday sent a senior official to the Bihar capital Patna to monitor security for the last phase of assembly elections in adjoining Jharkhand.

“With a view to establish adequate security network for the last phase of polling in Jharkhand, the ECI (Election Commission of India) has deputed its DEC (Deputy Election Commissioner) J.P. Prakash to Patna today (Wednesday),” a statement issued by the poll panel said here.

“During his visit, he will have detailed discussion with state top administration and police officials for establishing security network in all assembly constituencies adjoining Bihar,” the statement added.

The five-phase of the staggered assembly elections in Jharkhand concludes on Dec 18, when polls will be held in 16 Maoist affected constituencies.

Counting to elect the new government is on Dec 23.
