Mumbai, Dec 12 (Inditop.com) The condition of Pravin Mahajan, sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his brother Pramod Mahajan, remained critical following a brain haemorrhage early Saturday, the hospital said.

He has been put on life support system and is struggling for life, the hospital said in a medical bulletin.

Pravin Mahajan was rushed to the Jupiter Hospital in Thane at around 10.30 p.m. Friday night, his brother Prakash told reporters.

He had complained about fatigue, giddiness and severe headache before he was moved to the hospital. Pravin Mahajan was out on parole from the Nashik Central Jail where he is serving a life sentence.

He was supposed to report back to the Nashik Central jail Saturday after completing the period of 14 days of furlough on which he was released as per the jail rules.

“He is suffering from extensive pontine haemorrhage (brain haemorrhage). He is currently on life support system and is in a very critical condition and deeply unconscious,” the bulletin said.

A team of specialist medicos, including a physician, neurologist, neurosurgeon, intensivist and a cardiologist are taking care of him, the hospital said.

Soon after his release on furlough, Pravin Mahajan had said that he would spend time with his wife and two children at his Thane residence.

He had also said that he would neither telephone nor go and meet any of his friends or acquaintances.

On April 22, 2006, Pravin allegedly shot his elder brother Pramod Mahajan, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who succumbed to his injuries May 3.
