Bangalore, March 26 (IANS) Electorate in the high-profile Bangalore South constituency will be able to see themselves registering vote on a printing device attached to the EVM, a poll official said Wednesday.

“The Voter Verification Paper Audit Trail is being introduced in select metro parliamentary constituencies across the country to improve the transparency mechanism of the voting system,” state’s chief electoral officer Anil Kumar Jha told reporters here.
The device, manufactured by the state-run Bharat Electronics Ltd. will show on its screen a voter pressing the button of his or her choice to elect a candidate on the basis of the symbol on the voting machine.
“We have decided to introduce the device in the Bangalore South constituency as it has less number of polling booths — 1,925 — than in other seats across the state, to enable its electorate to know how and whom they have voted for,” Jha said.
