New Delhi, Jan 26 (Inditop.com) A hut carved in wood with chinar motifs, embroidered shawls, rugs and carpets and a life-like sculpture of a basket-weaving woman showcased Jammu and Kashmir’s handicrafts industry as the state’s tableau slowly moved down Rajpath at the Republic Day parade here Tuesday.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah smiled and cheered loudly as the float moved with famous romantic folklore “Walo mashooq myaaney” playing in the background. A big copper samovar and papier-mache vases were also on the tableau.

The tableau, designed by known Kashmiri artist Veer Munshi, also featured a shepherd girl. The “Walo mashooq myaaney” song is a shepherd girl’s call to her lover and is an all-time hit in Kashmir Valley.
