Raipur, Dec 10 (Inditop.com) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh Thursday expressed confidence that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would put up an impressive show in the urban bodies polls this month saying the government has done “fairly good work”.
“The BJP government has worked hard in the past six years to improve people’s life quality through a flurry of welfare schemes and also vastly improved road and health infrastructure in all 18 districts and I am pretty confident the BJP will put up an impressive show in the urban bodies polls,” Singh, 57, told Inditop.
The state goes to polls Dec 21 for 14 nagar palika and 87 nagar panchayats while voting for the remaining 12 nagar palika and 32 nagar panchayats and all the nine nagar nigams will be held Dec 23. The votes will be counted Dec 27.
“The BJP had won almost 75 percent seats in urban bodies polls last time except in a few cities such as Raigarh and Chirmiri. I am sure we are going to vastly improve our performance this time,” Singh said.
“In civic bodies polls, people cast votes keeping in mind the state government’s work at the grassroots but other minor local-level issues, which are not related to the government’s performance, also play a part in sealing the fate of candidates.”
