Mumbai, Feb 5 (IANS) Sheena Bora murder case prime accused Indrani Mukerjea on Friday moved the special CBI court for bail on medical grounds.

In her 17-page bail plea moved by her lawyer, Indrani, a former top media executive and Sheena’s mother, claimed that she suffers from frequent “blackouts” and her health was deteriorating as she lost 18 kgs in the past months.
Arrested on August 25 last year, along with her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and former driver Shyamwar Rai, Indrani has been in police and judicial custody for the past nearly six months.
On November 19 last year, her husband and former media tycoon Peter Mukerjea was also arrested in connection with the murder case and is currently in judicial custody at the Arthur Road Central Jail, where Khanna and Rai also also lodged.
Indiani’s bail application, in which around four dozen medical documents have been attached, says that she suffers a life-threatening medical condition that may interrupt oxygen supply to her brain and lead to a stroke.
She pointed out that it take her nearly an hour to reach the hospital form the Byculla women’s prison where she is currently lodged and mentioned that when she fell unconscious in jail on October 2 last year, more than six hours lapsed before treatment was started.
Sheena, 24, the daughter of Indrani from an earlier affair, was murdered, her body burnt and the remains disposed off in the forests near Raigad, around 90 kms south of Mumbai, on April 24, 2012.
Among other angles, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating huge financial transactions and investments done through a foreign bank account and the individual roles of all the accused in the sensational high-profile murder case.
