New Delhi, May 15 (Inditop.com) External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna Saturday condoled the death of former vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, saying the country had lost an elder statesman.

“In him, we have lost an elder politician and leader who served his country and people in various senior positions with dedication and commitment,” Krishna said in a statement.

“His contribution as chief minister of Rajasthan and as vice president of India will always be remembered,” said Krishna, a former chief minister of Karnataka who enjoyed a personal rapport with Shekhawat, a veteran BJP leader.

“I offer my deep condolences and pray to God to grant all the bereaved the courage to withstand this irreparable loss,” he said.
