New Delhi, Nov 29 (IANS) Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who was benched as party spokesperson following his appearance in a controversial lottery case in Kerala, was Monday back on the panel.
Congress sources said that Singhvi, who is the party’s chief spokesperson, admitted that it was ‘an error of judgement’ on his part to have appeared in the case to which the Kerala unit of the Congress took strong exception.
The sources said he is likely to brief the media Tuesday.
In October, party MPs from Kerala had written to Congress president Sonia Gandhi seeking action against Singhvi for defending in the Kerala High Court a lottery distributor accused of irregularities. The lottery distributor was allegedly linked to Kerala’s ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist-led Left Democratic Front. Though Singhvi subsequently withdrew from the case, the Kerala unit of the party was miffed with him for it came ahead of the crucial civic polls.
