New Delhi, Feb 25 (Inditop.com) Unhappy with the poor turnout in the Lok Sabha in post-lunch sessions, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has directed leaders tasked with coordinating with state MPs from the party to prepare a daily attendance list.
Gandhi’s direction has come in view of the thin attendance of party MPs in the post-lunch period during parliament’s previous sessions. The budget session started Monday.
The convenors, as the nominated Congress MPs from major states are called, have been asked to file a daily report on attendance at 4 p.m. every day with the parliamentary party office, said a party leader.
The decision is taken to avoid an embarrassment in the Lok Sabha, in case the opposition asks for a head count when bills are debated and passed.
