New Delhi, Dec 17 (Inditop.com) Pro and anti-Telangana protests disrupted the Lok Sabha Thursday morning forcing Speaker Meira Kumar to adjourn the house for 15 minutes.

As soon as the house met for Question Hour, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs holding placards stating “We want united AP (Andhra Pradesh)” rushed towards the speaker’s podium, shouting slogans against the division of the state.

Some Congress MPs also protested against the division but didn’t move from their seats.

However, the party’s MP from Telangana region’s M. Jagannath was near the podium holding up a “Jai Telangana” placard.

The MPs did not relent despite the speaker’s repeated assurance that they would be given a chance to raise the issue during Zero Hour.

“Don’t show placards. Please don’t introduce such things in the house,” Meira Kumar said amid the chaos and noisy protests.

She urged the MPs to maintain the sanctity and order of the house and let the Question Hour continue.

“There is certain sanctity to (the) house. This is breach of sanctity. Please observe the sanctity,” she said repeatedly.

She later adjourned the house for 15 minutes at 11.15 a.m. Peace returned to the house when it resumed at 11.30 a.m.
