Hyderabad, Nov 29 (Inditop.com) Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) legislator Harish Rao, who launched a ‘fast unto death’ following party chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao’s arrest early Sunday, was taken into custody by police in Medak district.
Hundreds of policemen swung into action and arrested Harish Rao and other TRS leaders who had gone on fast after Chandrasekhara Rao was arrested near Karimnagar town as he was heading towards Siddipet to launch his ‘fast unto death’ demanding a separate state of Telangana.
Tension prevailed in Siddipet as Harish Rao threatened to commit suicide if police arrested him. He had even doused himself with kerosene.
However, armed policemen, including personnel from Rapid Action Force (RAF), foiled his attempt and physically lifted him into a waiting police vehicle.
Dozens of others accompanying Harish Rao were also taken into custody.
The arrests have led to tension and sporadic incidents of violence in parts of the Telangana region.
