Dubai, May 26 (IANS/WAM) The UAE’s environment ministry has denied entry of a sheep shipment through its Al Ghweifat border point after the animals were found infected with a contagious disease.

Sultan Alwan, executive director of the agriculture and animals affairs at the ministry, said his ministry is in daily contacts with the world organisations to safeguard the livestock and public health in the country.

He added that there were 300 sheep in the shipment and were found infected with contagious ‘Brucellosis’ disease that also affects humans.

Alwan called on the border officials not to allow entry of any suspicious shipment.
