Kolkata, Nov 15 (IANS) The United Progressive Alliance government performed well with a focus on inclusiveness, the prime minister’s advisor Sam Pitroda said here Friday, running down its detractors for seeing things from a narrow perspective.

“This government has done a hell of a lot more than what the people realise. Right To Information was the biggest step forward in Indian history. Right to Education, the job guarantee scheme, food security – these are major initiatives that focus predominantly on inclusion,” the prime minister’s advisor on Public Infrastructure, Innovation and Information said in the West Bengal capital.
Delivering the foundation day lecture at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, Pitroda said: “At times, lot of critics see it (the UPA government’s successes) with a very narrow perspective”.
“People assume that nothing got done. So, when I hear on television people saying nothing got done, I feel sorry for them, that their view is so very narrow, so narrow so parochial, so selfish,” Pitroda said.
He said the critics need to understand things with an intellectual frame of mind.
