New Delhi, June 3 (IANS) US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter, who is on a three-day visit to India, on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of signing of a new defence framework agreement.
Carter earlier met Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, with whom he will sign the agreement that will strengthen India-US defence relations.
He also met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
Earlier, Carter laid a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti memorial at India Gate, the World War I monument.This is Carter’s first visit to India as defence secretary.
Carter, who arrived in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, has visited the Eastern Naval Command and the indigenous stealth frigate, INS Sahyadri.
