New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS) Unhappy with the pace of developmental schemes in Uttarakhand, Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath has sought an ‘action plan’ from the state by Sep 30.
In a letter to Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Monday, a copy of which was made available Wednesday, Tirath said there were several gaps in the progress of Sabla and Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY) schemes.
‘A visit by the joint secretary to Dehradun and Haridwar in July revealed several lacunae in the progress of both the schemes and their implementation guidelines have not reached the field units, despite the ministry issuing guidelines April,’ said the letter.
‘It is a matter of concern that though the beneficiaries were identified in December 2010 by the state government and funds were released by us…both the nutrition and non-nutrition services have yet to commence,’ it added.
Tirath warned that unless concrete measures were taken, several schemes may not take-off in the state.
According to the minister, Uttarakhand is facing acute shortage of manpower under ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services), as out of 1,124 posts sanctioned, only 606 people are in position. A total of 8,000 Aanganwadi posts are also vacant.
