Kolkata, Feb 26 (Inditop.com) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Friday said his government would focus on the economic development of the poor living in backward districts.
“We have to address the issues that impact the lives of the marginalised sections of our society. We have to focus on development for the economically backward people living in various rural and tribal belts,” Bhattacharjee said after distributing pattas (land title deeds) to tribals residing in Purulia district.
He said the ruling Left Front had already addressed all the problems related to tribal and economically backward populations in the region.
“But whatever we have done is not enough. We have to do more for the poor people in our state,” the chief minister said.
“We need to pay more attention to our backward population so that they also get a chance to progress in today’s world,” Bhattacharjee said.
Sources said the chief minister would leave for adjoining Bankura, another tribal-dominated district in the region, Saturday.
