Chandigarh, June 21 (IANS) Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Badal, who was among thousands of enthusiasts at a yoga session at Amritsar on Sunday, the inaugural International Yoga Day, said yoga brings harmony between mind and body and is a “must for holistic health, happiness and harmony”.

Harsimrat Badal was present at the state-level function in the Sikh holy city, while state Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani presided over the function in Fazilka town.
In both places, thousands of residents, politicians, cadets of the National Cadet Corps and government officials took part in the yoga sessions.
Harsimrat Badal told reporters in Amritsar that she did yoga regularly before joining politics almost six years ago.
Recalling an incident when she injured her knee while doing yoga, she said: “Yoga doesn’t need any big infrastructure. It only needs a 4×4 yoga mat and a good instructor.”
“Yoga brings harmony between mind and body. It’s a must for holistic health, happiness and harmony. It gives mental strength.”
She said it was indeed a matter of pride that India’s ancient science of yoga has been internationally acclaimed by over 170 countries and the day was celebrated worldwide.
Interacting with reporters in Muktsar town, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said: “Even I practise yoga every day to keep myself fit and fine.”
Complementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of this mega event, he said that besides ensuring good health of the people, this initiative of promoting the ancient Indian discipline across the globe has enhanced the prestige of the country worldwide.
