Amritsar, April 26 (Inditop) A man was nabbed in the holiest of Sikh shrines Harmandir Sahib for jumping into the area of the sanctum sanctorum where the holy book Guru Granth Sahib is kept, police said.

Eyewitnesses said the man jumped over the brass barricade and perched himself on the stand on which the holy book is kept at the Golden Temple.

The task force volunteers of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) nabbed him immediately and dragged him out of the shrine. He was later handed over to the police.

The daily procession to bring the Sikh holy book to be placed inside the sanctum sanctorum had not reached when the incident took place.

“The person is being questioned,” a police officer said.
