Patna, Sep 26 (Inditop.com) Three Buddhist devotees have travelled hundreds of kilometres on foot from Tibet and reached the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya to pray for the long life of Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.
Kelsang Dondup, 56, Sangau Dolma, 62, and Chultim Lama, 43, offered prayers to Lord Buddha and sought blessings for the Dalai Lama at the temple after they reached Bodh Gaya in Bihar from a village in Tibet. They reached Bodh Gaya Thursday.
“We are happy to fulfil our wish. We reached the holy town of Bodh Gaya on foot to offer prayers to Buddha for long life of the Dalai Lama,” Dondup told Inditop.
He said they travelled hundreds of kilometres on foot in five months. “We began our journey on foot from Ingappa village in Tibet five months ago,” he said.
They also offered prayers for world peace and harmony at the 1,500-year-old temple situated near the Bodhi tree under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. Before reaching Bodh Gaya, 110 km from here, they passed through Nepal.
The devotees will also visit Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh to meet the Dalai Lama before returning to Tibet.
Two years ago Gyansen Lama, a monk from Tibet, offered prayers to Lord Buddha at the Mahabodhi Temple after he reached Bodh Gaya, crawling all the way.
