New Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS) With cyber security emerging as a major national threat, Defence Minister A.K. Antony Thursday said India may be a “latecomer” in the area but was confident of protecting the country’s cyber assets.
“Even though we are a latecomer in putting a mechanism and network for strengthening our cyber security, now we are moving very fast,” Antony told reporters here on the sidelines of a navy conference.
“Within the armed forces, they have a unified approach on the one side and each service is tasked to certain particular activities in area of cyber security,” he said. “There is a coordinated effort and all agencies have to work together.”
India is looking at bolstering its cyber security capabilities in a major way with a new initiative being planned to train around 500,000 cyber warriors in the next five years.
