Microsoft has plans to release its two new flagship devices the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL. Both these devices are proper flagship with the best specs on a Microsoft phone yet and both the devices will be running Windows 10 Mobile out of the box. Once these two new devices are launched, the countdown for the Update for other devices begins soon and we have some idea as to how this is going to go about.
Microsoft has assured that all the devices that have 8 GB of internal storage are eligible for Windows 10 update so that covers almost 95% of the Microsoft or Nokia branded phones. According to mobile carrier Orange, the roll out is going to begin with the Lumia 630, 635, 730, 735 and 830 starting from 14th of December at the carrier end. It is after that the second phase of roll outs will begin for the rest of the Windows devices.
All this done and accepted, the timeline for Windows 10 Mobile in India is still not clear. India does not have carrier based systems and all phone come unlocked. That means the OTA update is to come directly from Microsoft and this is what we are worrying the most. Microsoft kind of has the knack of releasing the OS in India the last most of the times. That means if the OS is set to release in December for other regions, India should get it by mid-January.
Well as disappointing that is, we still are very much excited to see the Windows 10 Mobile version running on devices. With Windows 10 Mobile, India is finally set to get Cortana developed for the region. Also there comes Windows Hello and the new browser Microsoft Edge to revamp the internet browsing experience on the Windows phones.
This also going to bring the Continuum which Microsoft is proudly claiming where you could connect a keyboard and mouse to your phone and use the small screen as a complete Windows to get your work done and you could with a small device connect your phone to a computer and use the Windows on your phone on you PC to access the entire productivity suite.
