Abu Dhabi, Sep 19 (Inditop.com) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a bonus of $1 million to players, administrators and coaches of the country’s under-17 football team for winning the sixth Gulf Championship, WAM News agency reported Saturday.

UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan called the victory “a remarkable achievement” and wished the team good luck in the final rounds of the Asia Cup which will be staged in Al Ain over the next two weeks. He also expressed hope that the team would give positive results in the finals of the World Cup 2009 in Nigeria.

“Every sport achievement will raise the UAE flag aloft and further polish its image regionally and internationally,” Sheikh Khalifa said.

He added that the players had deserved the title for their merit and competence as well as their high spirited performance.
