New Delhi, Aug 22 (IANS) With I-League clubs repeatedly failing to meet club licensing criteria, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Wednesday formed two committees that would ensure that the errant outfits follow the rules.
The two panels, first instance committee and the appeals committee, would make sure that the I-League clubs fall in line by adhering to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) club licensing criteria.
“The two bodies will have five members each. The club licensing manager will submit reports to the first instance committee, which will decide which clubs meet the criteria. The clubs which fail to meet the guidelines can then approach the appeals committee,” an AIFF official told IANS.
The two panels were formed after amending the constitution of the AIFF in accordance with FIFA and AFC rules.
The first instance committee will comprise members from the AIFF, I-League committee and independent members. The appeals committee will be headed by a senior advocate and will have independent members.
The AIFF had been criticised for not coming down hard on the clubs as the I-League still remains a semi-professional league.
