New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS) The Bike Festival of India (BFI) Sunday began with the ‘National Safety Ride’ which was flagged off by Indian cricketer Ishant Sharma here.
The National Safety Ride is an initiative weaved under the ambit of the BFI – a joint initiative of Rhiti Sports Management and Event Capital – whose inaugural edition will be held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida Oct 4-5.
India cricket team captain and avid biker Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the brand ambassador for the BFI which aims to provide a unique platform for the biking community to come together and be part of an adventure in the country that stresses the importance of safe biking.
“I have been a biking enthusiast since long and the Bike Festival of India is the perfect platform to foster a strong biking culture in India. Having said that, it is also a very important cognizant towards safe biking awareness in the country,” Ishant Sharma said.
The National Safety Ride will witness six male and three female bike enthusiasts on Triumph motorcycles – the official bike partner of the safety ride – in a nationwide ride in an attempt to spread awareness on safe biking.
The official BFI National Safety Ride participants are Rahul Sharma, Rohan Monga, Jaspreet Aiden, R. Venkat Raman, Sheetal Bidaye, Urvashi Patole, Pratish Ambekar, Anjaly Rajan and Sunil Gupta.
During the awareness journey, the riders will cover 8,100 km over 30 days with a halt in cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Cochin, Kolkata and Chandigarh for meet-and-greet sessions with bikers from other communities.
