New Delhi, March 30 (Inditop.com) Chhattisgarh will host the 37th National Games, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) said Tuesday.
The Chattisgarh Games will be held after Goa hosts the Games.
Three editions of the national Games are yet to be held. The 34th National Games were scheduled in Jharkand in 2007, but have been postponed four times due to infrastructural delays.
Kerala are to host the 35th National Games followed by Goa.
Chhattisgarh chief minister, Raman Singh, signed the host city contract with IOA president Suresh Kalmadi, at a function organised here Tuesday.
Singh also handed over a cheque of Rs.2 crore to Kalmadi to formalise the bid.
After signing the MoU, Kalmadi said Chhattisgarh hosting the Games shows IOA’s commitment to spreading the Olympic movement in the country.
“Hosting the National Games also means the state will have good infrastructure and other facilities to promote the Olympic disciplines. We have seen this happening in several states that have held the Games. It will be of immense help to the sportspersons of the state,” said Kalmadi.
Thanking the IOA president for allotting the Games to Chhattisgarh, Singh said: “We have already earmarked land for the purpose and good sports facilities will come up in the state capital as well as in the neighbourhood.”
