Mumbai, Jan 7 (Inditop.com) The Indian Premier League (IPL) Thursday announced a list of 51 players for the auction to be held here January 19.

The IPL for its third edition received 100 entries from international players. The eight franchisees shortlisted 60 players for the auction and of these only 51 have been cleared. The remaining players will feature pending NOCs from their home boards.

The auction list features players from Australia (11), South Africa (9), Sri Lanka (8), West Indies (8), Pakistan (7), New Zealand (4) and one each from Bangladesh, Canada, Holland and Zimbabwe.

Pakistan’s Twenty20 World Cup star Shahid Afridi, new pace sensations Kemar Roach (West Indies) and Mohammad Aamer (Pakistan), in-form Australian seamer Dougie Bollinger will be some of the stars in the auction.

As per the guidelines of IPL governing council, each franchisee will have a fresh purse of $750,000 to select the cricketers best suited for their team’s strategies.

“The enthusiasm displayed by players from all around the world to participate in IPL 2010 has been truly overwhelming,” IPL commissioner Lalit Modi said.
