New Delhi, Oct 6 (Inditop.com) Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla says he is working on a new delivery that would surprise batsmen in the upcoming Champions League Twenty20.

Chawla said he will test the “mystery” delivery during the Champions League starting Thursday and is confident that he will come back into the Indian team with innovations in his bowling.

The 20-year-old who will be playing for Sussex Sharks in the Champions League kept his new weapon a closely guarded secret and declined to reveal anything about it.

“I am working on a mysterious delivery. You will see it soon. I am also looking to improve on my leg-breaks and flippers,” Chawla said Wednesday.

Chawla said the new delivery will surprise his compatriots.

Asked how important is the Champions League tournament for him, Chawla said: “Playing for a foreign team (Sussex) in my country will be a different experience. And I would try to use my experience and knowledge of local conditions. It is a big event for me and I know national selectors would be watching all the players closely.”

Chawla, who plays for King’s XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL), also said that his stint with Sussex helped him to get some tips from former Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, who is the bowling coach with the county team.

“I feel I am a much improved bowler now and I have worked hard on my game. Selection is not in my hand. I have to just keep performing and hope that the selectors notice me,” he said.
