Chittagong, Jan 17 (Inditop.com) Openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir batted steadily as India reached 63 for no loss at lunch after a delayed start on the opening day of their first cricket Test against Bangladesh here Sunday.

Sehwag was batting on 38, stroking six fours while Gambhir was on 22 with the help of three fours.

The start of the match was delayed by 90 minutes due to dense fog. Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan decided to bowl first after winning the toss in overcast morning conditions, but his bowlers failed to get an early breakthrough.

Debutant paceman Shafiul Islam bowled impressively, but conceded 27 runs in his six overs, while Rubel Hossain bowled four overs for 25 runs.

India’s regular captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is not playing in the Test due to back spasms. Spinner Harbhajan Singh is also sitting out with a stiff neck. Dinesh Karthik has replaced Dhoni as the wicket-keeper.
