Karachi, Jan 17 (Inditop.com) Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ijaz Butt has denied that former greats Waqar Younis and Saeed Anwar have been hired on a long-term basis.

Butt Sunday said no coaching deals have been agreed by the PCB with Younis and Anwar.

“The story regarding Saeed Anwar holding a batting camp once the team returns from Australia is just media talk,” Butt told pakpassion.net.

“I read the story and was surprised and can confirm that nothing has been agreed with Saeed. He in the past has been willing to help Pakistan cricket, but he is currently very busy with his own commitments which would limit his availability.”

Younis is currently with the Pakistan squad touring Australia and was appointed as the bowling coach specifically for the tour down under.

Butt said that no long term agreement has been agreed yet with Waqar also.

“Waqar also has television commitments, and the initial agreement with him was for just the tour of Australia” said Butt.

“We will have to sit down with Waqar and see what his plans are for the future and whether he is available for any future tours, or whether we work with him on a series by series basis.”

Waqar has received substantial support from various quarters who are calling for his appointment as a regular bowling coach. Some experts have even suggested that he should replace the aging Intikhab Allam as Pakistan’s head coach.
