Kolkata, Feb 12 (Inditop.com) South African cricket captain Graeme Smith injured his left little finger during a practice session at the Eden Gardens here Friday ahead of the second Test against India beginning Sunday.
South African media manager Michael-Owen Smith said they are “expecting” Smith to play Sunday.
An x-ray done on the ground did not reveal any fracture, but later an MRI scan showed ligament damage. Smith sustained the injury while trying to take a catch during the tune-up session.
“He had an x-ray on the little finger. It says no fracture at all. Obviously, it looks to be some sort of ligament damage. But at this stage it’s treated as a sprained ligament,” Smith said.
“He will be at the training session tomorrow. We are going to see how he feels. At this moment, we are expecting him to play.”
