Kolkata, Dec 25 (Inditop.com) On a high after scripting a series-win with a century knock in the fourth one-day international (ODI) against Sri Lanka, young Virat Kohli Thursday night said he was never under any pressure in the crucial tie.
“I am happy that the team won. I was never under any pressure,” Kohli said after propelling India to a seven-wicket victory with an impressive 107 runs stint at the crease at the Eden Gardens here.
The 21-year-old reached his maiden ODI ton showing oodles of maturity and also added 224 runs for the third wicket with man-of-the-match Gautam Gambhir. It was the record third-wicket partnership at the sprawling Eden.
The Delhi duo came together when India were in a spot at 23 for two, with big-guns Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar back in the pavilion.
“Our partnership was crucial. We complemented each other,” he said.
“As our understanding was perfect, we never erred in calling,” Kohli said.
In a nice gesture, Gambhir called Kohli after being declared man of the match at the prize distribution ceremony.
“Gambhir wants to share the award with Kolhi,” Shastri announced to cheers from the crowd.
Kohli said he played his natural game. “And I am indeed really happy that it worked”.
