New Delhi, Feb 26 (Inditop.com) The national capital will get Rs.1,283.70 crore as part of the total central plan assistance in fiscal 2010-11.
“The total central plan assistance for Delhi for the year 2010-11 has been fixed at Rs.1283.70 crore. As per details of central plan assistance to Delhi out of Union Budget 2010-11, Delhi is all set to get six times more allocation in JNNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) in comparison to the previous year’s allocation,” according to an official statement here.
JNNURM is the central government’s modernisation scheme for cities.
“An amount of Rs.903.63 crore has been earmarked as special grant for JNNURM for the year 2010-11 against an amount of just Rs.130.47 crore the previous year,” the statement added.
Delhi Finance Minister A.K. Walia said projects worth Rs.9,821 crore have been sanctioned under JNNURM and the capital will start getting 35 percent of this amount on start of work related to different approved schemes.
He further said that there has been an increase in normal assistance from Rs.208.85 crore to Rs.229.72 crore whereas Delhi’s share in central taxes remains same at Rs.325 crore.
“Despite reduction in special grant for Commonwealth Games, there will be no let up in execution of games projects. The city government will continue to strive hard to utilise its own resources for this purpose as the games are directly related to the pride of the nation,” he said.
“However, the city government will continue to request for allocation of more funds from the Planning Commission for this purpose,” Walia added.
