Kolkata, Feb 3 (IANS) East Bengal will take on arch rivals Mohun Bagan in a 19th round I-League football match at the Salt Lake Stadium here Saturday.
Both teams are at a critical juncture in their season with East Bengal on 34 points from 18 matches, while Mohun Bagan are just a point behind from same number of games.
Mohun Bagan won the first encounter between the two sides earlier. But Saturday’s tie is the “home” match for East Bengal and it is to be seen if they can register win in their home colours.
East Bengal coach Trevor Morgan said there is no pressure on the team.
“There is no additional pressure of this match, the way people are making it out to be. It is another important I-League match with 3 points at stake. Bagan is playing well and Odafa Okalie is their main man upfront as he has been regularly among the goals. However, we have plans and hope we would stick to them,” he said.
Mohun Bagan technical director Subrata Bhattacharya said he was not looking forward to a hat-trick of wins over East Bengal.
“Despite having beaten them in the local League and in the first leg of the I-League, we really can’t afford to take them lightly, we have to stay focused,” he said.
