New Delhi, April 9 (Inditop.com) The sports ministry Friday said a financial assistance of Rs.250,000 has been sanctioned for former international volleyball player Sally George Joseph.
Sports minister M.S. Gill sanctioned the ex-gratia assistance, from the National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons, to Arjuna awardee Sally, who is living in indigent conditions.
Sally had played volleyball at national and international levels from 1980 to 1986.
“Taking into consideration her financial position, the Sports Minister has sanctioned ex-gratia payment to Sally,” a statement from the sports ministry said.
