New Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS) As Delhi gets ready to host the Commonwealth Games, power distribution company BSES is geared up to provide fool-proof power supply to the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games venues, a spokesperson said Friday.

‘At a cost of Rs.74 crore in all the 12 Games venues, BSES has created and strengthened its electricity distribution system. A multi-pronged fool-proof arrangement has been created to check any unforeseen power supply-related contingency and to ensure 100 percent power supply,’ the spokesperson said.

All the CWG venues in BSES area will have ‘double source’ power supply from different Grid stations. This is to ensure that if one source fails, there is no disruption of power supply to the venue.

‘We ensure uninterrupted power supply and to tackle any power-related emergency during the Games, the Delhi government had constituted a high powered ‘Emergency Response Team’ (ERT) earlier in the year. BSES has been working in close coordination with the ERT and has implemented all their suggestions,’ the spokesperson added.

According to BSES, the infra-red thermal scanning at sub-stations for detecting ‘hot-spots’ dual and dedicated feed to all Games venue will be set up. Disaster management groups will be formed and they will be deployed near each venue.

A predictive scanning using infra-red thermal scanners will constantly scan and monitor and infra-red cameras at their sub-stations will detect the hot spots.
