Pune, Nov 23 (IANS) Four Maharashtra players — Kunal Vazirani, Haadin Bava, Rohan Bhatia and Rohit Ranglani — made it to the main draw after winning their final qualifying round of the All-India Ranking Men’s Tennis Tournament at the Solaris Club here Sunday.
There were eight places for grabs and Maharashtra players did well to secure half the berths.
Vazirani defeated Rohan Samant 6-1, 6-2 in an all-Maharashtra clash to qualify from the top half of the draw. Bava outclassed Ponnala Siddharth of Andhra Pradesh 6-1, 6-2.
Bhatia defeated Sahil Gaware while Ranglani emerged winner over Yuvraj Singh 6-2, 6-1.
Also making it to the main draw were Siddharth Vishwakarma of Uttar Pradesh, Digvijay Singh Mehta of Himachal Pradesh, Bhavesh Gaur of Madhya Pradesh and Taha Kapadia of Andhra Pradesh.
Abdullah Shaikh of Andhra Pradesh has been top seeded for the main tournament with Vijay Kannan of Tamil Nadu is No.2 and Maharashtra’s Nitten Kirrtane third.
