Kolkata, Aug 31 (IANS) The 24-year-old with his lean but tight frame can be easily mistaken for a skilful footballer. But in fact, the smiling Frenchman has flown down to Kolkata only to see Argentine great Lionel Messi in action.
Thibault de Chenerilles – an employee with a French apparel maker in New Delhi – flew down to the Kolkata to meet the Barcelona star.
‘I have always been a fan of Messi and the club Barcelona FC for which he plays. When I heard he will play in Kolkata, I flew down here,’ said Chenerilles.
The young man used his contacts to sneak into the media conference venue which Messi was originally scheduled to address. But to his dismay the prince of soccer did not turn up. The media persons were told that the fatigued player was resting after a long fight.
Chenerilles was heartbroken.
‘I can’t see the match Friday (between Argentina and Venezuela). I came here on a day’s leave. I only wanted to see him once face-to-face. That is not to be,’ he said.
