Chennai, Sep 16 (IANS) Local challengers Indian Overseas Bank completed their league engagements by chalking up their third win in four matches in pool A with a 6-1 verdict against CAG in the 88th All-India MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup hockey tournament here Monday.

IOB made light of CAG challenge with former international Adam Sinclair opening the account in the very first minute. Thereafter, the bankmen struck through Vinod Rayaer (15th, 64th), D Muthselvan (49th) and V. Shanmugam (67th) while CAG’s lone success was a 65th minute goal by Navneet Swarnakar.
In another pool A match, Army XI too stayed on course with a 4-1 win against South Central Railway for their second success in three outings.
Veteran Ignace Tirkey scored twice for Army XI in the 17th and 50th minutes while C.U. Bopanna (57th) and Euazer Lakra (68th) knocked in one apiece. Mayanak James (40th) scored the lone goal for the Railwaymen who have lost both their matches so far.
