Hamburg, Jan 18 (DPA) Reigning champion Serena Williams of the United States started the Australian Open on Monday as the leader of the women’s tennis rankings.
Williams tops the WTA list issued on Monday with 9,195 points ahead of Russians Dinara Safina (7,600) and Svetlana Kuznetsova (6,081), who won their first-round games in Melbourne on the day.
