Margao, March 31 (IANS) Churchill Brothers take on Prayag United Sports Club in the 22nd round of the I-League at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, Sunday.
Churchill Brothers are not giving up on the title despite being 11 points behind league leaders Dempo in the league.
Churchill’s 35 points, with a match in hand, seemed too far off from Dempo’s 46 but technical director Subhas Bhowmick, who took over a little over a month ago, is entertaining hopes that some tough matches at either end will significantly alter the course of the title race.
“I am not giving up on the title. I believe we are still in with a chance,” said Bhowmick.
Bhowmick’s first match in charge was a 1-1 draw against Sporting Clube de Goa. Churchill dropped significant points but Bhowmick was happy that a team extremely low on morale had managed to create several chances.
“I was very pleased. We were dominating the second half and had it been for good conversion, we would have been ahead by five or six goals. We missed sitters in that game,” he said.
Bhowmick will continue to keep faith in the same team as Churchill take on the might of another emerging side Prayag.
Prayag, who defeated Dempo at Fatorda earlier in the season, have the same number of points as Churchill Brothers.
