Chennai, May 31 (IANS) Indian men’s team faltered and settled for the second spot behind Pakistan, but qualified for both the next world championship for Bermuda Bowl and the final of the Bridge Federation of India and Middle East (BFAME) Bridge Championship here Monday.

After leading the table during the first four days of the competition, India finished with a total of 280 VPs, as against Pakistan’s 285 VPs.

India, however, had the satisfaction of defeating Pakistan by 18-12 VPs and carry over 12 IMPs in the final where the two teams meet again over two days.

Meanwhile, Indian women, who too qualified for the world championship, topped the league table and will take on second-placed Jordan in the final.

In the final, the Indian women will also get a carry over of 12 IMPs because of their better performance against Jordan in the league matches.
