New Delhi, Dec 5 (IANS) India’s international football friendly with 2010 World Cup hosts South Africa slated for Jan 7 to mark the 150th year of arrival of Indians in the African nation has been postponed.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has told the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Monday that the Bafana Bafana are not available to play the friendly on the slated date.
‘They have informed us that the match will be postponed,’ AIFF secretary-general Kushal Das said.
Meanwhile, the AIFF disciplinary committee will take a call on complaints filed by both East Bengal and Goa Football Federation (GFA).
‘The two parties have allegedly hurled abuses at each other during training session Sunday morning at the Nehru Stadium in Fatorda,’ I-League manager Sunando Dhar said.
According to reports, GFA has lodged a complaint against East Bengal’s Australian striker Tolgay Ozbey after he was alleged to have assaulted senior ground supervisor Raju Adpaikar during training.
East Bengal have also filed a complaint with AIFF, accusing GFA secretary Alberto Colaco of insulting East Bengal manager Swapan Bal.
The incident took place when Adpaikar asked East Bengal to vacate the ground and allow the groundsmen to do the markings for the Dempo-Churchill Brothers match that was held later in the day.
The AIFF has also received complaints against Churchill Brothers boss Churchill Alemao for hurling abuses at the referee during Sunday’s derby.
